If viewing an image sequence, the pipeline mode is automatically selected, but u.m.p. doesn’t assume anything for videos. Video metadata is too unreliable to count on. You can pick the pipeline that best fits the media. General rule of thumb: Normal is fine for all SDR video. The High-Res setting will present 12-bit video (think ProRes 4444), which is better, but it’s not mandatory. In a review process, one might not even notice the difference. Ultra-High-Res is only needed for HDR videos.
